This is an animation showing the working of a sliding spool type 5/2 push-button operated spring return directional control valve (DCV).

The standard port numbers used are as follows:
1 - Pressure/Pump Port (Inlet Port)
2, 4 - Actuator Port (Outlet Port)
3, 5 - Exhaust/Tank Port
