Throttle Blipping is the term used to describe the rev-matching technique where the rider momentarily “blips” the throttle to increase engine rpm to better match the revs to the road speed when downshifting.
Some bikes now have an auto-blipping feature when equipped with electronic quick shifters for both upshifts and downshifts.
Also, bikes with slipper clutches minimize the need for blipping, but don't rely on the slipper for smooth downshifts, either ease the clutch out or blip.
