I've never been a huge Dirty Dancing fan. I love some bits of it and hate others, overall I think of Dirty Dancing as some sort of paradox: it could have been one of the worst movies ever about dancing and growing-up but, for some sort of miracle, it turned out greatly. It amuses me. So, I was looking forward for the remake. The remake, what can I say? I loved (LOVED) Abigail's Baby and her performance as an actress was stunning! Not so well on the dancing but hey, Baby is NOT supposed to be a trained dancer, just an 18-yrs old girl who takes some lessons from a sexy dancer. Love her. Colt Prattes was enough sexy and worked hard but I think he misses the charisma Johnny's character needs. However, THEESETWO WERE ADORABLE. Really. Yeah, they lack the fire Patrick and Jennifer had (omicidal or passion fire, depends on the scenes really), but they have chemistry. I know a lot of people conplained about this lack of passion, chemistry between remake's Baby and Johnny but I cannot agree: they lack of passion, not of sentiment. They share love like an ordinary high-school couple. (I LOVE THEIR RELATIONSHIP WAY MORE THAN THE ORIGINAL)
However, I loved Nicole Scherzinger performance and all the others. I enjoyed the remake, considering it as a TV movie. I really appreciated the fact that the production tried to add something to the charachters and the story, but it clearly lacks of "spice", so yeah, it feels kind of boring sometimes.
In the end, I don't think it deserves all that shaming and hate that went on the web in May (although the ending was really creepy... I mean, yeah we all know this is a summer love story meant to turn Baby into an adult, but that last scene could have been handled in a better way)
