When a cancer is found in the left breast, doctors have to be especially careful when delivering radiation. In this video, Jacqueline Matar, MD, radiation oncologist with CHI Saint Joseph Health – Cancer Care Center, discusses Active Breathing Coordinator (ABC) therapy. ABC therapy often allows minimization of radiation dose to the heart. When the lungs are fully inflated, the heart generally moves away from the radiation beam directed to the left breast.
