Hey, guys! We finally have some good news about Season 5 of Queen Sugar! First off, Season 5 has been officially confirmed, and will be comprised of 10 episodes. The bad news is that fans will have to wait a little longer to enjoy new episodes, as the COVID situation has halted production for months. Filming resumed only in October, and Season 5 of Queen Sugar will be released in 2021 on the Oprah Winfrey Network. The new season will “tackle 2020 and the impact of COVID-19, Black Lives Matter and Elections on the Bordelon family and community”, said creator Ava DuVernay, who completely revamped the material for new season during the hiatus to make it more relevant and meaningful. DuVernay also continues to close Hollywood inclusion gap by hiring an all-female directing team since Season 1 of Queen Sugar. How impressive: in just five seasons, THIRTY TWO first-time female directors made their TV directorial debut on the show!
