I reckon the CX-30 nails the brief in a few important ways. It's a great size, starts at a strong price point, and the brand has heaps of dealerships across Australia. It's also relatively fun to drive, too.

It's a way more convincing thing than the Mazda3 in my opinion, and bigger and better than the CX-3, too. But is the CX30 really a winner?

Well, it could be that the best version is actually the top-spec, and it's not that affordable. And the lack of turbocharged or hybrid powertrains means you've really gotta rev the engine.
