This video highlights the changes Metro is making to Blue, Yellow, Orange & Green Line service beginning June 18, 2012, named Rush+.
TEXT OF THIS VIDEO:
Expanded rush hour service is coming to Metro. It's called Rush Plus.
And beginning June 18 at many stations, it means more trains and new travel options during the busiest travel times.
This expanded rush hour service means more trains and more seats on the Orange Line, fewer transfers between Greenbelt and Franconia-Springfield, and much more.
Metro is also preparing for future Silver Line service and responding to changes in ridership by adding trains and adjusting service.
To make this happen, some Blue Line trains will be transformed into Yellow Line trains, resulting in more direct service to Downtown DC and Maryland, from Virginia stations south of the Pentagon to Franconia-Springfield.
What does this mean for you?
First, customers on the Orange Line west of Rosslyn will see six additional trains every hour of every rush hour — three trains in each direction.
That means thousands of extra seats during rush hour to ease the phenomenon known as the "Orange Crush."
But take note... these new Orange Line trains will travel to and from Largo Town Center, not New Carrollton.
This new "rush hour only" service will be shown as a dashed Orange line on the new Metro map.
Next, Metro customers north of Mount Vernon Square on the Green Line will now see six Yellow Line trains each hour of every rush hour - 3 trains in each direction - between Greenbelt and Franconia-Springfield, giving customers who transfer today the option of a transfer free commute and more frequent service overall.
Yellow dashed lines will indicate the rush-hour-only service on the new Metro map.
To help Metrorail customers navigate with ease, Metro maps have been updated to reflect the new rush hour service.
