Title: Diffusion MRI-based neurites correlates with neurons in primate cerebral cortex.
Session: Oral Session

Abstract: Recent advances in comparative neuroimaging have provided valuable insights to consistencies and differences in cortical organization across different primate species. In particular, T1w/T2w ratio mapping has enabled comparisons of in-vivo cortical myelin content in humans and non-human primates (NHPs)[sup]1,2[/sup]. However, much less is known about the neurobiological basis of MRI-based cortical microarchitecture and its relation to cellular organization. Here, we investigated in-vivo diffusion MRI (dMRI) recently known to be sensitive to neurites[sup]3,4[/sup] in NHPs, compared it with humans and addressed its relation to neuronal density.
