John Hayes from Carlow was awarded a Carers Award . John who displayed undying belief, positivity and bedside dedication nursed his 22 year old son Conor back to good health so he can return home to his family. Conor suffered strokes following a road traffic accident a year ago in December 2013 which tragically claimed the life of his older brother. Immediately after the accident, Conor was critically ill and his dad John never left his side, giving up his work to put his energy into the recovery of his son for almost five months. One nurse described John’s presence as “a driving force for Conor on the hardest of days”.
