Decomposition of silver compounds into silver atoms by U.V light.
Silver nanoparticles appears black and not shiny as they do not reflect light, instead they absorb light. Silver nanoparticles are formed when silver nitrate and silver chloride breaks down in the presence of sunlight. The U.V. light acts as catalyst to speed up their decomposition process.
