The southwest of France has some great places to visit, particularly of you're flying around the area.
Last week (27th July) I went to Sarlat-La-Canéda in the Dordogne, and Soulac-Sur-Mer (30th July... not August!) on the Atlantic coast, close to the estuary of the Gironde.
