Paddy was harvested from a 1-hectare field. Random sampling of the produce was done. Fifteen (15) 1-kilogram samples were gathered, cleaned and weighted (Final weight) to determine percent purity. Table 1 exhibits the resulting data.
a) Compute the percent purity of each sample and get the average percent purity.
b) If the samples were dried down to 14%MCw.b., compute the weight of each sample at 14%MCwb. What is the average weight of the sample at 14% MCw.b. ?
c) The samples at 14% MCw.b. were then milled in a laboratory Satake rice mill with variable milling recovery shown in Table 1. Determine the weight (grams) of milled rice for each sample.
d) Compute the weight of broken grains for each sample based on the given data.
e) Compute the weight of ricehull, bran, etc (that were removed during milling) for each sample
f) Compute the weight of water removed during drying down to 14%MCw.b.
