Siberian Engineers from Mister Sir Embodied Their Scientific Study of Dreams into a Music Album
Drawing inspiration from progressive and psychedelic efforts of such western bands like Muse, The Mars Volta, and even Pink Floyd, the Siberian rock trio Mister Sir recorded a concept album “Sleep”, which will be released on April 3rd 2015.
Five songs of the album (plus intro and outro) will lead the listeners through the emotional upheavals of real practitioners of lucid dreaming, the true nature of which still remains understudied by the scientific community. Rather resembling a small research, the “Sleep” project is not limited to songs exclusively but also includes original artwork by a promising avant-garde artist Anastasia Kovaleva, as well as a series of Tool-esque music videos reminiscent of endeavors of Tool band.
Mister Sir is an already established band, having been performing all over Siberia. They even got to share a stage with such prog rock giants like Devil Sold His Soul and The Ocean. The band’s lead singer and songwriter Anton Serov, one of few in Russia, recently had the honor of becoming a semifinalist at the International Songwriting Competition 2014 with some western reviewers even saying “…Liverpool, San Francisco, Nashville, Seattle: Some cities are writ large in pop music forever. If it has twenty more musicians like Anton Serov, the next one could be Tomsk, Russia.” Without the slightest doubt, the fresh new work of such authors merits attention of those who fancy esoterics, metaphysics and everything new in general.
Lyrics:
My eyes can’t see, my ears can’t hear
It’s been only 10 days, but it’s like a couple of years
I can’t even identify any smell or any object,
I’m just like a living dead
I think that I’d better be a corpse
Because corpses are allowed to sleep
I’m locked in a cage but
I am guilty of the crime
And praying to all saints:
‘Move on and make my time come’
Now I’m lying down
I can’t move my arm
It’s seems like some kind of disease
You’d better kill me right now
And stop messing around
Could you please, please, please
Stop this?
I’m trynna close my eyes one’s again
But right away he hits to make me understand
"DON’T SLEEP!"
I can’t even identify any smell or any object,
I’m just like a living dead
I think that I’d better be a corpse
Because corpses are allowed to sleep
I’m locked in a cage but
I am guilty of the crime
And praying to all saints:
‘Move on and make my time come’
Now I’m lying down
I can’t move my arm
It’s seems like some kind of disease
You’d better kill me right now
And stop messing around
Could you please, please, please
Stop this?
