In this video we'll explain how the Sino Soviet split actually happened looking at three key factors. Before Stalin died, the Chinese and Russian relationship was a largely positive one; Mao and Stalin even signed a treaty of “mutual assistance and friendship” in 1950. However, after Stalin’s death the relationship between Mao and Khruschev became much more strained. This video will look at the impact of the Death of Stalin, the significance of 1958 (joint naval fleet issues, Khruschev’s disapproval of Mao shelling Taiwan and the friction of the Great Leap Forward and finally friction going into the 1960s. Make sure to stick around to get a complete picture.
