Watch as Lois Reid-Hines, co-founder of Tropic Isle Living, shares her recipe for the Jamaican Chocolate Tea, also known as Cocoa Tea! Get ready to prepare to indulge in an all-natural chocolate drink that is actually GOOD FOR YOU!
Lois' Cocoa Tea
2 cups of Vanilla Almond Milk (You may add an extra cup to make a creamier drink|| May substitute with Soy Milk or 2% Milk)
1 cup of Water
2 Chocolate Balls (Sold at any caribbean store)
Grater
1 Nutmeg w/ a Nutmeg Grater (use to taste)
Cinnamon Leaves
2 Cinnamon Sticks (Grate additional cinnamon sticks to taste)
Spoonful of Raw or Brown sugar (sweeten to taste)
1. Boil the Cinnamon sticks + Cinnamon leaves
2. Grate an additional Cinnamon stick into the pot of water
2. Grate the Chocolate Balls and 1/3 of the nutmeg then place to the side.
3. When the pot is boiling, add in the chocolate and stir to melt the chocolate
4. When the chocolate melts away, add the nutmeg. Let the pot continue to boil
5. Add the both cups (and additional cup) of the Almond Milk and stir. you may grate more nutmeg and cinnamon to taste.
6. Sweeten the mixture to taste using either Raw or Brown Sugar
7. Once boiling and stirring for at least 5 minutes, use a strainer (optional) to pour the Chocolate Tea into a cup and ENJOY!
