Clients who’ve seen me before for a Remedial Massage know that I won’t skip over the SCM just because it feels a bit yuck (for you).
Both sides of the SCM’s work to elevate your collar bones and draw your head forward. Individually, each side works to turn your head to the opposite side and side bends your head to the same side.
This muscle is often neglected and can refer pain up your neck and into your jaw, ear and temple. The next time you feel discomfort in these areas, check out your SCM.
