This is the 1956 Astor SJ (Serial SJ24674), which was one of the first televisions produced by Astor and used in Australia! It uses a 17" B&W CRT and 20 valves, and is quite a beast of a set! It will be an interesting restoration, to say the least. I also found a boxed Mullard 1S2 Half-wave vacuum rectifier valve crammed inside the set, between the chassis and the cabinet.
I scored this set for $50 from the local Tender Centre, and am really happy with it! It was a good bargain for such an early set, especially considering it's in decent condition, and the only missing part is the speaker grille on the front.
