Pterygium removal has been a basic ophthalmic procedure described even by Hippocrates in ancient Greece. Several techniques have evolved through the years aiming in smooth healing and to lower the recurrence rate. We have worked in the past with adjunct irradiation, MMC, amnion, conjunctival free-autograft. The technique described herein involves the practical use of a rotating superior conjunctival flap, to cover the pterygium conjunctival deficit, along with 0.02% MMC solution, triamcinolone and freeze-dried amnion used as a biological, biodegradable contact lens, under a large diameter (20-24mm) bandage contact lens for several weeks
