#Blockbuster could've acquired #Netflix for 50M, but said NO. When the dot-com bubble burst in 2001, the Netflix we know and love was on the brink of failure. And that meant Netflix co-founders #ReedHastings and Marc Randolph, had to hit plan B: sell to big, bad Blockbuster. When Blockbuster finally agreed to meet, Marc and Reed were on vacation at the time, so they had to charter a last minute plane with their remaining cash to get to texas the next day. The meeting went great, blockbuster was interested, and then they asked marc and reed how much they should pay to acquire Netflix. After that, we all know what happened to Blockbuster.
