Today because of all the advancements in medicine and technology people think that doctors can make someone live forever but unfortunately that's simply not the case. People all over the planet are dying In the Intensive Care units of modern hospitals instead of dying comfortably at home. People are afraid to talk about death and they seem to have forgotten that death is a part of life. Chronic disease is taking its toll on our population and causing people to come to these hospitals hoping that doctors can reverse the damage that chronic disease has done to their body over countless years. That's simply not the way things work. You cannot ignore chronic disease and expect a doctor or hospital to fix it. Nevertheless, this is what is happening and these are the people are filling our icu's. Families think that their loved ones will somehow miraculously recover while on life support and in doing so they'll leave their family members on a ventilator for far too long while their body slowly deteriorates. What this amounts to is nothing short of torture for the patient, all so the family can say that their loved one is still alive - but I ask you are they really?
