In the 1950s, Illinois State police and Cook County Chicago area police made "documentaries" to help professionals understand the criminal mind. The speaker is Joseph Lohman who was Sheriff of Cook County at this time. This kind of educational film was considered forward thinking for its time. Rather than just place a person in prison, they were trying to figure out the process of making a criminal so that they could reduce crime. I collected these films when I was a young man. I copied old 16mm films that were considered educational films to digital in the early days of digitization. This film is called "Life Of Crime."
