Violence broke out overnight in Cairo as opponents and supporters of Egypt's ruling Muslim Brotherhood clashed near the Islamist group's headquarters. Cars belonging to the Brotherhood were set on fire and columns of riot police fired tear gas as the rival groups tussled in the streets. Authorities say at least 40 people were injured. The violence is the latest outburst of unrest in the country, which has been struggling to restore law and order since the 2011 uprising which saw the ouster of long-time leader Hosni Mubarak. Protesters have accused new Islamist President Mohammed Morsi of emulating Mubarak's authoritarian ways.
