Happy #TherapyTipTuesday! This week’s tip is great for teaching children how to use their affected arm. It helps with target reaching, finger extension, grasp and release, hand eye coordination, and protective reflexes.
Be sure to share this tip if you feel it can benefit others! Consult with your local therapist to determine if this tip is safe and appropriate for your child.
If you have difficulty performing this tip, do not hesitate to contact me via direct message and I will do my best to respond within 24 hours!
To perform this tip, wrap the child’s unaffected side. Have them reach for a toy or object that they are drawn to. To further challenge the child, gently nudge them towards the affected side to encourage them to reach and put their hand down to prevent themselves from falling. Make sure they position their hand fully open, or help them open their fingers if needed. Repeat the activity as needed and nudge them forward as well to encourage further development of protective reflexes.
