Disclaimer: Strandberg sent me the guitar and let me borrow it for a couple of weeks. They had no input on this video and they didn't pay me.

Some thoughts after listening to both versions: they actually sound much closer to each other than I expected. I think both the "bass" tones from the strandberg and the "guitar" tones from the bass are very convincing. Personally, I found easier to dial the mix using the bass than the 8-string, and I feel it has more clarity and sustain. But, I think the palm muted chords sound better on guitar. However, the Fishman pickups have higher output than the Bartolini on the bass, and that definitely affected the sound of the chords. And of course, it was much easier to play the riffs on guitar than on bass.

Guitar: Strandberg Boden Metal NX 8 with Fishman Fluence Modern pickups. I'm always on voice 1 and used the bridge pickup for the guitar parts and the middle position for the bass part. Tuned to drop E.

Bass: Ibanez 1005 SR EFM with Bartolini pickups and a Glockenklang preamp. I used the bridge pickup for everything in this video. Tuning: B, E, B, D, G, C (I'm only using the 3rd and 4th strings).
