Three top Monterey County science students attended the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair this week in Los Angeles and headed home with special awards and recognitions.
These students had three best projects from the Monterey County Science and Engineering Fair 2017. Young science geniuses spent a week learning, networking, and having fun with scientists around the world. The Intel ISEF International Science and Engineering Fair is the largest international pre-university science competition in the world.
Each year approximately 1,800 high school students from more than 75 countries, regions and territories are given the opportunity to showcase their independent research and compete for an average of $ 4 million in prizes. Millions of students around the world compete each year at local, school-sponsored science fairs; The winners of these events will participate in regional and state affiliated fairs of which the best win the opportunity to attend Intel ISEF. Intel ISEF brings together these brightest minds young scientists, showing their talent in an international setting, where PhD level scientists review and judge their work.
The Monterey County Science and Engineering Fair is a collaborative effort affiliated with the Society for Science and the public that is sponsored by the Monterey County Office of Education, the Naval Postgraduate School, California State University, Bahia Of Monterey, and many community members.
