AWS Cost Explorer lets you explore your AWS costs and usage at both a high level and at a detailed level of analysis to identify trends and detect anomalies.
Hi Guys, this is Abi from GokceDB and in this video, you are going to learn 8 things about the Cost Explorer in AWS. Let's get into it.
1. AWS Cost Explorer includes a default report that helps you visualize the costs and usage associated with your top five cost-accruing AWS services. You also get a detailed breakdown on all the services in a table view.
2. You can view the monthly spend grouped by Linked Accounts for the paying account in AWS Organizations. You also get the ability to filter the cost data associated with each member account in an organization.
3. AWS Cost Explorer helps you visualize and manage your AWS costs and usage over a daily or monthly granularity. If you want to dive deeper, you can enable hourly and resource-level granularity as well.
4. The Savings Plans utilization report in Cost Explorer, visualizes your aggregate Savings Plans utilization and allows you to set a custom Savings Plans utilization target. This helps you understand how well you are using your resources.
5. The Savings Plans coverage report, on the other hand, visualizes your overall Savings Plans coverage and allows you to set a custom Savings Plans coverage target. This helps to identify opportunities for savings.
6. Similar to the savings plan reports, you also get two reservation reports for your Reserved Instance purchases and savings opportunities. These are called the Reservation Utilization report and Reservation coverage report.
7. The AWS Cost Explorer API lets you directly access the interactive query engine that powers AWS Cost Explorer. As of this recording, each request will incur a cost of one cent.
8. You can create a forecast by selecting a future time range for your report. This can help estimate your AWS bill and set alarms or budgets based on predictions.
In summary, AWS Cost Explorer helps you understand and manage your AWS costs and usage over time.
There you have it.
