American and Russian Easter traditions both celebrate the resurrection (zombification) of Jesus Christ, but they do it in different ways. You'd think that Americans would react by exercising their Second Amendment rights, but they actually have a fluffy bunny that delivers treats. It's the Eastern Orthodox and Russian Easter traditions that pay special attention to the tradition of zombie Jesus.
In this video, I'll cover differences between how Russian/Orthodox Easter and American/Western Easter are celebrated, including:
- The mythologies and customs of Russian Easter traditions vs. American Easter traditions
- One minor difference in the 40 days of (Great) Lent leading up to Easter Sunday.
- Signature Russian Easter foods: kulich and pashka.
- Why Russian Easter and American Easter often (but not always) happens on different dates.
