The only issue you will ever get with a ZZ plant is root rot. These are extremely pest resistant and there is usually no element except overwatering which kills it.

How do you know you have overwatered?
1. Yellowing leaves : sure shot sign of overwatering.
2. Your soil does not dry up quickly after a watering episode. It should normally dry within 2 days indoors.
3. There is bad odour from the soil.
In any of the above cases, please please check the roots and act immediately.
