In this TEDx Talk Vibha Bakshi shares her journey navigating the Police Administration in Delhi to document a film on the December 2012 gang rape of a women that led to protests for women's safety all over the country.
Vibha shares how we miss the most important aspect of social change, that the administration is made up of people like us. Therefore, untill we change our own belief structures, it will be an uphill task to change the situation of gender violence and our response to it. Each one of us is responsible for the rape of Nirbhaya and each one of us have to contribute to make a change - by breaking our silence on the issue.
Vibha Bakshi is a National Award winning filmmaker and Co-Producer / Co-Director with Oscar winner Maryann DeLeo. A former business reporter for CNBC, Vibha has studied Journalism and Broadcasting from Boston University and New York University. Vibha's passion lies in making films which change lives...one story at a time. Her films have been aired on HBO and Lifetime TV in the United States.
Her recent film - DAUGHTERS OF MOTHER INDIA is an Indian filmmaker's journey through the aftermath of the horrific rape and murder of a 23 year old medical intern named Nirbhaya, in Delhi on 16th December 2012. This movie went on to win the National Award for Best Film on Social Issues in 2015.
