North Korea's purge of aides close to the uncle of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, who was executed earlier this month, appears to be ongoing.
Unification Minister Ryoo Kihl-jae said Monday during a meeting at the National Assembly that the purge of aides to Jang Song-thaek, formerly the North's de facto number two, is presumed to be ongoing.
He said the ministry has detected signs that personnel related to Jang are still being purged... and added that although it is too soon to describe the events in detail, the purge is believed to be in progress on a small scale.
Jang, often described as the second-most powerful man in the North, was executed for allegedly trying to overthrow the government.
