Following the French Revolution, a brutal period came over France as the Terror emerged. This was when 17,000 people were executed inside of towns and cities on the guillotine. One victim of the Terror was a Nun called Victoire Conen de Saint-Luc. Victoire was a very religious woman, and she was accused of painting images which were in support of rebels against the Revolution.

She was arrested and was thrown in prison, as were her parents and all three were sent to the Revolutionary Court and they were all sentenced to death. Victoire and her mother and father were all executed on the same day on the guillotine in Paris, and Victoire would opt to lose her head first on the guillotine.
