A Piper PA-28-180 Cherokee C, departed for a sightseeing flight when the wheel of the left main gear separated during takeoff roll, damaging a left flap, the aircraft climbed out safely however. Another pilot radioed what happend, incident aircraft entered a hold. The field was prepared for an emergency landing, fire, ambulance and rescue helicopter were dispateched. Fire team foamed the runway. After more than an hour of holding the incident aircraft performed a flaps-up landing on rwy 24, keeping the left wing in the air as long as possible. The aircraft stopped on the runway, there was no fire and only a little if any damage with exception of the left main gear strut and the left flap. There were four people on board, no one was injured.
