What is sourdough discard?
Sourdough discard refers to the portion of the sourough starter that is removed and discarded during the feeding process. When maintaining a sourdough starter, it’s common to discard a portion of it before refreshing it with fresh flour and water. The discarded portion is called sourdough discard. You can find many creative ways to repurpose it in other recipes such as pancakes, waffles, crackers, or bagels. Plus I believe adding some sourdough discard to other recipes makes them even better.
