There has been widespread condemnation of the violent protests and looting incidents that have broken out in various parts of Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal. On Wednesday, ANC Chairperson Gwede Mantashe urged protesting residents to refrain from destroying property and focus on stabilising the already battered economy.
This as various ANC and government leaders visited affected areas where a number of shops were broken into and looted. Meanwhile, at least 25 000 members of the SANDF will soon be deployed to KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng to deal with violence and looting as soon as approval has been obtained.
