I'll be having Open Heart Surgery on August 4th to correct a congenital heart defect I've had all my life. I'll be having an aortic valve replacement with a Bentall Procedure. I'll be using a mechanical On-X valve. Probably take 2-3 months off of work to recover so I'll have a lot of time to think about life! Maybe I'll have an opportunity to learn more about video editing to make my videos have a bit more pizzazz to them~
I wanted to put this out to gather some of my own thoughts but also to help anyone else going through something like this. This surgery is definitely unusual for someone as young (27M) as me. Typically, these surgeries are more for the elderly.
I'll likely be making some more videos about the hospital experience, the recovery experience, as well as some things I learned or wished I knew. Hopefully, I can take some hospital pictures or videos, but it's all a bit complicated with COVID still going around. I won't be allowed to have any visitors so it'll definitely be a bit lonely for a week!
