Symptoms include fever, followed by swelling and tenderness, lasting 7 to 14 days. While most cases clear up naturally, severe complications like brain swelling or hearing loss can occur. Kerala's frequent reporting of viral diseases is attributed to its forest cover, intense monsoon, and the global dispersal of its population, including medical professionals who may unknowingly spread diseases.
