PhD Research by Dr Aida Aaly Alymbaeva on Contesting Kalmak Identity in Kyrgyzstan, 2 July 2021
Dr Alymbaeva s a social and cultural anthropologist writing on issues of ethnicity and nationalism, ethnic majority and minority relationships, food and identity, kinship and genealogical imagination, and migration (internal), of and about ex-Soviet Central Asia. Aida has defended her Ph.D. thesis on "Contesting Kalmak Identity in Contemporary Kyrgyzstan" in Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg, Germany, in March 2021.
