Here's a January update of the seedling started in our unheated greenhouse. So far we have lettuce, kale, and onions seedlings. We also sowed cabbage and spinach seeds in coir pots. January is a great time to get these greens started in Tennessee. In the greenhouse I sowed the seeds in 1020 flats that were nested in each other. Flats with holes were put inside flats without holes while seeds were germinating to make sure the soil didn't dry out too fast. Now that they have germinated I can remove the flats with holes and allow normal drainage to occur.
Whenever planting seeds always make sure you read the packet instructions. They should offer some useful tips regarding the best seed starting method for those particular varieties.
