If Sweet Home Alabama’s Urban Dictionary version was ever applicable to an entire gene pool, it would be the Targaryen gene pool. These remnants of ancient Valyria love them a little bit of incest, don’t they? Well, we say a little; they love a LOT of incest. Brothers marrying sisters, aunts marrying nephews, uncles marrying nieces; it was common for dragonlords and ladies to copulate with their own to “keep bloodlines pure”. But rarely have we heard of relations between a parent and a child, unless you consider the wildling Craster to be of Valyrian descent. And yet, the implications of Aemond’s relationship with Madame Sylvie suggest just that, at least on a twisted, deeper psychological level.
