As mentioned in the March videos, Coco's veterinarian recommended euthanasia because even with high doses of medication, Coco's heart condition was still causing lots of symptoms.
However, besides of Coco's symptoms of shortness of breath, syncope, unable to sleep and dizziness caused by her congestive heart failure, Coco's overall condition was still okay, her appetite was excellent, and her bowel movements were normal.
Therefore, I discussed with the vet and has decided to raised the dosage of Coco's medication again (See below) and agreed to perform euthanize after three days if her condition did not improve.
RX (Mid March 2021):
TID (Three times a day)
Benazepril 0.33mg/kg
Sildenafil 2.5 mg/kg
Pimobendan 0.5mg/kg
Spironolactone 0.33mg/kg
Furosemide 0.5mg/kg
In the meantime, I sought for a second opinion from another veterinary cardiologist just want to make sure whether Coco had really reached the stage that there's nothing we can do besides euthanasia.
Surprisingly, the veterinary cardiologist was really surprised to hear that the original veterinarian actually recommended euthanasia directly, and told me in his experience, usually end stage CHF patients like Coco would simply die from sudden syncope, basically there was no need for euthanasia at all, the veterinary cardiologist asked me if I would mind to at least let him try to adjust Coco's medication dosage, consider this is the last shot, of course I said YES.
...And guess what?
After only 20 minutes of taking the second veterinary cardiologist's new prescription, all of Coco's symptoms you see in March videos subsided, this is incredible and unbelievable.
Until now, Coco has been taking the medication from this second veterinary cardiologist (RX below), overall speaking, she's doing very very well, it's like her condition has gone back to a year and a half ago where she haven't suffered from CHF symptoms.
It has also been at least a month since Coco's had any symptoms that includes syncope or pulmonary hypertension. Truly, it's miracle.
RX (late March 2021)
Sildenafil 2.5mg/kg/TID
Pimobendan 0.75mg/kg/TID
Spironolactone 0.33mg/kg/TID
Furosemide 1mg/kg/SID
Torsemide 0.05mg/kg/BID
Digoxin 0.0025mg/kg/BID
In April videos, you can see how active and lively Coco's condition is.
