Timelapse videos released by the Queensland Reconstruction Authority show the rapid rise and slow draining of severe floods that gripped parts of the state’s southeast in late February and early March.
Intense rainfall over a number of days prompted mutliple major flooding events in the region and northern New South Wales. Significant flooding also occured in the state’s capital Brisbane.
The Insurance Council of Australia said insurers had received 107,844 claims relating to the floods in Queensland and New South Wales worth an estimated $1.62 billion dollars, as of March 9.
