Here's some footage from a paragliding SIV clinic at Lake Berryessa. The purpose of an SIV clinic is to practice recovering from stalls, auto-rotations, spiral dives, and other potential mishaps. It's much more intimidating than doing aerobatics in a fixed wing aircraft; airplanes don't collapse or tangle! For this reason, SIV clinics are held over water and we all fly with a reserve parachute.
I was very pleased to learn more about my wing. I fly a B wing (Hook 3) and found that it takes a lot of provoking to induce a problem, and then the wing usually tries very hard to recover on its own. I'm now more comfortable with the small collapses that sometimes happen while thermalling.
