Walking Over The Amazing Millennium Bridge in LONDON: In my latest YouTube video we take a walk over London's magnificent Millennium Bridge; it was the 18th of May 2021 and crazy thunderstorms have recently passed over Central London, as such the bridge itself isn't too crowded which makes a nice change. London has recently reopened more to allow indoor dining and drinking, the Millennium bridge however is always a popular crossing point over the Thames River regardless of destination or curbs on gatherings; and lets not forget Harry Potter once flew under the Millennium Bridge in the sixth film of Warner Brothers & J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series 'Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.'
According to Wikipedia 'The Millennium Bridge, officially known as the London Millennium Footbridge, is a steel suspension bridge for pedestrians crossing the River Thames in London, linking Bankside with the City of London. It is owned and maintained by Bridge House Estates, a charitable trust overseen by the City of London Corporation. Construction began in 1998, and it initially opened in June 2000.
Londoners nicknamed it the "Wobbly Bridge" after pedestrians experienced an alarming swaying motion on its opening day. The bridge was closed later that day and, after two days of limited access, it was closed again for almost two years so that modifications and repairs could be made to keep the bridge stable and stop the swaying motion. It reopened in February 2002.'
I myself walked across the bridge from the Southbank of the Thames river to the North-bank, the chimes you can hear at the start of the vid belong to Saint Paul's Cathedral which dominates the local skylines with its dome. The building opposite which we cross to is the Tate Modern which is a popular art gallery. Other structures we can see are Blackfriars bridge, and train and tube station, The Shard which is London's tallest skyscraper, and Tower Bridge which is often mistaken for London Bridge - we can also make out the City of London and its various tall buildings which are occupied by many financial institutions and banks etc. As you can see this superb piece of structural engineering offers some amazing, beautiful, and atmospheric views.
