The 1.6 million mile Toyota Tacoma. Discovered in 2018 by Jeff Teague, "The World's Most Famous Tacoma" was owned and used by Mike Neal since he bought it in November of 2007. A blue, 4-cylinder, 2WD, access cab model, it helped Neal deliver nuclear medicines all across North Carolina and Virginia to help cancer patients.
This crucial job saw the truck cover 500 miles a day, adding up to well over 100,000 miles a year, eventually landing at 1,625,000 miles when it was finally retired in 2023. It mainly received routine maintenance during its life, but eventually, it got an engine and transmission replacement, one each, at 880,000 miles and 1.3 million miles, respectively. That's good enough to land it on the list of cars with the highest mileage.
It most likely still has plenty of life in it, too, but Mike unfortunately passed away in 2023, effectively cutting that life short. The good news is that Tacoma has found a forever home on the showroom floor of Fred Anderson Toyota, where it was purchased almost 20 years ago.
