Tamarind Water Recipe:
1 Pound Tamarind
Break the pod, remove the veins and rinse clean to remove debris.
4 Cups Water
-In a medium pot place the tamarinds and water and cook over a medium flame for 10 minutes, boil then turn off flame and allow to cool down-
When the tamarind has cooled, pour tamarind water into a blender through a colander.
With clean hands remove all of the seeds from each tamarind, place the tamarind pulp into the blender. Discard the seeds.
Add:
4 Cups of water
3/4 - 1 Cup Sugar/Sweetener *Optional add sugar to taste * I used raw cane sugar.
-Blend-
Made 6 1/2 Cups of tamarind pulp.
Once well blended pour the tamarind pulp through a colander, into a large pitcher. Discard the pulp that didn’t go through the colander.
Add:
8 Cups of water into pitcher **Add less or more water, depending on your preference and how diluted you want it.
*adjust sweetener to taste
Serve over lots of ice 😋 Enjoy
