Located in the mountains west of Yountville and north of Carneros, this AVA is a majestic display of rugged terrain above the fog line, with extremely steep slopes exposing ample direct sunlight to the vineyards and ancient seabed soils providing superior drainage. The low water retention forces the vines to struggle and develop tiny berries with intense concentration, leading to incredibly age-worthy, deeply colored Cabernets that are the very definition of power and elegance. The region produces only about 1% of Napa’s total wine output – no surprise, then, that it’s home to the lowest yields in the entire valley.
Lot 797 Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon comes to us from a family that’s been crafting local wines for over half a century, produced from vines planted over 1000 ft high up in the Mayacamas Range that benefit from the longest growing season in the valley. Aged in a top dollar French oak program under the watchful eye of world class winemaking talent, this is a powerfully structured mountain superstar that will have immense appeal to critics and casuals alike.
