11 orcas and 87 belugas, including 15 belugas calves (younger than 1 year) were caught in the period between July-October 2018 in the Okhotsk Sea near the east coast of Russia to be sold to Chinese theme parks. Now they are held in the so called "whale jail". One orcas and 3 belugas already die.
These fascinating animals suffer severely in captivity, due to the impossibility to travel, to exhibit their natural behavior, the lack of natural food and also because they are under heavy social stress as they have been taken out of their social environment, social pods and family groups.
The whale jail is located at the coast of the Okhotsk Sea (Pacific), near Nahodka city, about 7,000 km east of Moscow. Greenpeace demands the release of all orcas and belugas.
