One hundred years after its premiere in 1904, Mahler’s Symphony No. 5 was performed at the Lucerne Festival in 2004. The Lucerne Festival Orchestra under Claudio Abbado shed a new light on this dramatic, tender and heroic masterpiece, particularly on the famous Adagietto, where the sheen and warmth of the strings is truly sublime.
