Did you catch this in SONIC 2? If you actually watch Sonic The Hedgehog 2 movie till the very end including the post-credit scenes, you’ll notice the appearance of Shadow. He is actually one of the biggest Sonic rivals, Shadow is Robotnik’s legacy because he was created by Gerald Robotnik, the Eggman’s father. Shadow’s main motive is to defeat Sonic. And it looks like in the new Sonic movie, Sonic, Tails and Knuckles will work together to stop Shadow.
