The Singapore Food Agency is conducting a public consultation on a framework to regulate the import and sale of insects as food and animal feed. The SFA said it has assessed certain species of insects that humans are known to have eaten or used as livestock feed, such as crickets and mealworms. The agency added that insects for food and feed will need to meet food safety requirements. There will also be other requirements around labelling and licensing.
